Although the current FW20 season marks the first time WACKO MARIA and Carhartt WIP have formally joined forces, many feel the move was all but inevitable, as both were destined to meet at some point in time. Over the past few years, the heritage workwear label has made a steady transition into streetwear styling, having co-designed capsule collections alongside Awake NY, BornxRaised and Converse, amongst others. On the other side of the style spectrum, the Tokyo-Based label has a known penchant for reworking sentimental staples of the workwear variety–in essence setting the stage for this imaginative offering.
Spread out over a comprehensive 18-piece assemblage are a host of signature Carhartt classics that have passed through Atsuhiko Mori’s sentimental sieve. A quick look at the collection brings WACKO MARIA’s customary leopard print clearly into focus, making its way onto a number of key pieces. For instance, the eye-catching animal print makes its presence felt as much on a form-fitting Duck Chore jacket as it does on revere-collared button down shirts. Rounding out the range is a series of branded crewnecks offered in simple black and white.
The collaborative WACKO MARIA x Carhartt WIP FW20 collection will make its online debut come October 10. In case you missed it earlier, WACKO MARIA recently unveiled its collaborative capsule with Dickies.
