Although deceptively simple in design, Vans’s iconic Slip-Ons silhouette has helped elevate performance sneakers into a space where sport and lifestyle sensitivities converge amongst one another. Moving from skate decks to street corners, the shoe has undergone countless reworks over the years, with this new iteration from Vans Japan attracting all kinds of attention.
The new design echoes the same artistic sentiments that helped fortify the shoe’s authoritative rank, however, does flaunt a slew of modernized tech advancements. Dense black piping meant to emphasize the tongue, along with the breathable mesh-constructed side panels help disrupt the black & white check print seen swathing the entire upper. Vans’s newest variant makes creative use of elastic panels as its innovative design twist. A semi-translucent waterproof coating completely engulfs the mudguard, which sits atop an iced-out UltraCush midsole. Adding stylish contrast to the sneaker’s classic print style, the semi-transparent appliqués are also used to fend off unwanted moisture.
Set to a retail price of $120 USD, the Vans Japan Mod Slip-Ons can be purchased now through BILLY’s web store. In other sneaker news, BAPE is readying the release of the BAPESTA “ABC CAMO” in a trio of colorways.
