In a revolutionary project where luxury fashion, professional sports and contemporary art tuneful coexist amongst one another, Saint Laurent has tapped the activewear expertise of Everlast in a new boxing-influenced capsule. Creative director, Anthony Vaccarello, was moved by retro portraits of Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat, choosing to creatively inflect the capsule within the same framework of the featured images. Lensed by Michael Halsband in 1985, the aforementioned stills capture both artists in a combative state—training equipment and all—that touch on the competitive nature of each.
The six-piece collection consists of shorts, gloves, punching bag, hand wraps and headgear in tonal back with decorative white trim weaving in and out. A glossy satin finish engulfs the majority of the shorts with a 4-inch elastic waistband positioned up top, while the gloves and bag take shape from its high-quality leather fabrication. Each is then accentuated by a co-branded patch, highlighting Everlast and Saint Laurent’s distinctive logos.
Speaking of Saint Laurent, Rami Malek has been tapped to star in the label’s Spring/Summer 2020 campaign.
