Pussy Riot NFT

Of all the NFT projects we’ve featured within the pages of our site thus far, it’s the forthcoming collection by Nadya Tolokonnikova of Pussy Riot that has snagged our undivided attention. Over the past week, we’ve all witnessed the senseless attacks being levied upon Ukraine and its people. As such, there has been an outpouring of support from activists, global icons, and everyday citizens alike in spreading support and resources to those most closely affected.

Nadya Tolokonnikova, one of the founding members of Pussy Riot — a feminist punk rock band known for staging public art installations — is using her platform to address this global catastrophe. She has since formed an alliance with Trippy Labs and members of PleasrDAO to raise funds for various Ukrainian civilian organizations. The Metaverse has proven its worth as an effective medium for those wanting to reach a large number of people, and is now being looked at as a tool to incite change.

Aptly named the Ukraine DAO, the newly formed digital entity houses a new NFT collection featuring the Ukraine flag as a symbol of protest against Russia’s military actions. “Our goal is to raise funds to donate to Ukrainian civilian organizations who help those suffering from the war that Putin started in Ukraine,” explained Tolokonnikova. She went on to say that the choice to use the flag acts as a commentary on pure solidarity.

Tolokonnikova, who is of Russian descent, is “deeply ashamed” of the actions carried out by her native government, and is someone who actively stands for peace. All proceeds from the collection will go towards such charitable organizations like Come Back Alive and Mission Proliska–a humanitarian mission assisting conflict-affected populations in the embattled Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
