With Chinese New Year but a mere few weeks away, brands the world over are now hitting the market with commemorative designs aimed to honor the annual observance. Design ace, Virgil Abloh and his famed Off-White™ imprint are the latest to join the craze, fashioning a range of pieces aptly titled, “LUNAR NEW YEAR.” As expected, the themed line up encompasses both menswear and womenswear codes, with plenty of accessory options scattered throughout.
The capsule collection—comprised mainly of T-shirts, long-sleeved crewnecks, hoodies and jeans—feature creative touch points unique to the brand, including the unmistakable arrow insignia and quotation marks. Artistically in line with the multi-day extravaganza, red and black—a basic color scheme synonymous with the holiday—formulate a palette as aesthetically sharp as is commemoratively festive. Elsewhere, playful images of rats allude to this year’s spotlighted zodiac symbol, which can be seen piercing many of the collection’s key pieces.
Scarves, wallets, leather bags and socks—many of which highlight the phrase “GOOD LUCK”—serve to compliment the main line’s signature items, with several standouts surfacing to the forefront. Soft floral imagery lend itself well to many of the womenswear items, landing on tees and bags of which depict “wealth, longevity and pure beauty.”
The Off-White™ “LUNAR NEW YEAR” collection is now up for grabs through the label’s official web store. Meanwhile, in other fashion news, Gucci and Disney also linked up on a new Chinese New Year collection.
