Short of living under a rock the past few weeks, you’ve likely seen, heard and read about the countless protests that have cropped up in city states all across the U.S. As if the Covid-19 pandemic wasn’t already enough to deal with, systemic race issues spurred on by excessive police brutality is a real and ever present reality currently plaguing communities around the world. On that note, Nike responded in kind with a call-to-action campaign to help spread awareness of such troubling injustices.
The sportswear titan released a short video across all of its social platforms with a simple, yet powerful message: “Don’t pretend there’s not a problem in America. Don’t turn your back on racism. Don’t accept innocent lives being taken from us. Don’t make any more excuses. Don’t think this doesn’t affect you. Don’t sit back and be silent. Don’t think you can’t be part of the change. Let’s all be part of the change.”
Long-time rivals, adidas, showed solidarity to its chief competitor by retweeting the message, replying with, “Together is how we move forward. Together is how we make change.” Be sure to have a look for yourself in the video below.
