Although its baseline origins stem from the world of basketball, Nike’s iconic Air Force 1 remains a fashionable mainstay of urban pop-culture, finding ways to imprint the crosswind of talent residing within it. The sportswear titan has unveiled a weatherized GORE-TEX version of the sneaker, choosing a mixture of textiles that not only address the structural composition, but sound functionality to boot.
Creamy, off-white leather panels found on the toe cap, heel and eyestay provide textural contrast to the like-hued ballistic nylon slabs emblazoned on the vamp and side panel areas. Conversely, forceful punches of black, by way of the side panel Swoosh, branded tongue tab and decorative heel counter provide a base for stitched branding to call out from. “Nike Air” and “GORE-TEX” emblems underscore the tongue, with the former also accenting the rear, and the latter taking up real estate along the rear quarter.
The new Nike Air Force 1 GORE-TEX “Light Bone/Medium Olive” is currently available through Nike’s web store for a retail price of $150 USD. Meanwhile, in other Nike related news, the Swoosh brand linked up with CLOT yet again, this time on a themed tracksuit.
