KENZO has made a slew of moves over the past few months that has further solidified its place as one of the most prestigious fashion houses in the industry today. Under the watchful eye of Japanese design maverick NIGO, the label has once again been thrust into the spotlight, unearthing a ready-to-wear range rife with contemporary design codes. Late last month, NIGO and team stormed the Galerie Vivienne in Paris to parade the artistic director’s debut collection amongst a crowd that included such names as Kanye West, Pharrell, Kid Cudi, Pusha-T, and others. If there is one person who is able to bring the world’s of streetwear, luxury fashion and hip-hop together, one would be hard pressed to find someone more capable than him.
The latest move by KENZO now sees the house move from the physical to the digital, with a project aimed at the Metaverse. Comprised of 100 limited-edition NFTs, the new collection respectfully pays homage to the label’s signature Boke Flower. The Japanese-style quince bush weaved in and out of NIGO’s Fall/Winter collection, making it an obvious choice as the brand’s first digital ambassador into web3. As it stands now, KENZO plans to release three more drops for Spring, each of which will be accompanied by a collection of NFTs that grant customers exclusive access to the brand’s forthcoming plans.
