junya watanabe spring summer 2020
SSENSE

First spotted parading down the runways of Paris Fashion Week in June of last year, we’re now granted a better look at this sub-capsule within Junya Watanabe’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection. The famed COMME des GARÇONS protégé upheld his main line’s clean sophistication with sporadic hits of raw industrialism. Although structured jackets and boxy blazers comprised the bulk of the offering, Watanabe fashioned a rugged workwear-inspired capsule alongside French label Le Laboureur.

Together, the duo chose to reengineer the humble chore coat in a variety of ways. Available in bold red and deep navy, the first item makes use of a button closure system, with a circular Amsterdam Tulip Museum patch positioned next to three slip pockets along the front. Joining the above pair is an identical silhouette clad in clean white with the same three-pocket layout informing the front region. In place of the aforementioned patch found on the former, we see the logo of famed London restaurant, St. John, stamped along the upper right chest area.

Priced at $290 USD each, you can find these Le Laboureur x Junya Watanabe jackets online now for purchase. In other collaborative fashion news, WACKO MARIA and Neckface came together on a gruesome Hawaiian shirt capsule.
