One of Paris Fashion Week’s most anticipated moments finally revealed itself when Dior Homme stormed the runway in featured Fall/Winter 2020 fits. Since taking over the creative reigns in the Spring of 2018, Kim Jones has solidified the house’s collaborative footprint, flaunting projects with some of the industry’s most revered minds.

Prior to the presentation, it was revealed that the life and times of legendary stylist/art director/jeweler, Judy Blame, would be celebrated. Jones first met Blame as a fresh-faced teen, and even worked alongside the multifaceted artist while still perched as the creative head of Louis Vuitton. “Judy was one of the most key people that I met when I was very young. We were friends — not close friends, but he was someone I hugely admired,” explained Jones. To those familiar with Blame’s artistic oeuvre, he was widely considered a punk iconoclast, who fearlessly pushed the boundaries of creativity beyond all tedious convention.

Jones, in the same vein, disrupts classic sophistication with off-kilter design riffs, as can be seen littered across the new collection. Regal elegance by way of shimmery metallics and structured tuxedo jackets are unraveled through the inclusion of paisley-printed scarves and beret hats. Statement outerwear appear to take on imaginative modifications as seen strewn across the stage. An elongated M-65 jacket highlights flap panels along the chest area that can be fastened by a sturdy loop strap. Elsewhere, a silver-hued Mac does well to grab attention through a tasseled scarf held in place by a blooming rose design. A round of accessories, including elbow-length gloves, pocket chains, earrings and bags help round out each look.

In case you missed it, Junya Watanabe’s FW20 collection was a lesson on how to stylishly uplift classic workwear.
