Since its inception over 80 years ago, Dickies has sat at the crossroads of traditional workwear, creating durable “uniforms” able to stand the test of time. In the early ‘70s, these standard work garments began to bleed out into the streets, and was eventually adopted by various subcultural groups, including punk, grunge and skateboarding circles. It was this sartorial shift towards restless youth that spawned Dickies Life, which as its names so poignantly suggests, addresses everyday lifestyle sensitivities within the framework of traditional workwear.
Shot in and around famed UK nightclub, Hacienda, the five-piece unisex collection pays homage to the rich history of tartan. The heritage print was a prominent sight throughout much of London’s club scene, spotted on everything from sophisticated suiting options to casual weekender wares. Dickies’ “Tartan Reworked” range shines a spotlight on a zipped Duck work jacket, button-down shirt and trousers—all of which come completely underscored by the stately patterned print.
