One of Nike’s operational strengths is its ability to move in and out of independent markets with relative ease. Depending on each project’s intended design brief, different campaigns call specific thematics into play, which can pull creative talents from varying disciplines into the mix. With that in mind, the sportswear titan and 1017 ALYX 9SM keep their luxury sneaker regime moving forward with a new iteration of the iconic Air Force 1 High.
The throwback hoops runner makes use of ultra-premium tumbled leather all throughout the uppers in a creamy “Sail” colorway. Although the new rework upholds much of the original’s constructional framework, Matthew M. Williams made sure to include a spattering of familiar touch points from his ALYX catalog. Replacing the AF1s instantly-recognizable Velcro closure is the high-fashion label’s infamous rollercoaster buckle done up in a metallic silver/gold medley. Elsewhere, a shimmery 1017 ALYX 9SM stamp informs the lateral heel area, while silver lace deubres—“1017” informing the right foot and “9SM” underscoring the left—help round out ALYX’s luxe interpretation.
Although release details still have yet to be determined, it is believed the 1017 ALYX 9SM x Nike Air Force 1 High will hit retailers in the coming months. In other collaborative style news, Stüssy unveiled a collection alongside some high-fashion heavyweights.
