Y-3 looks to keep its Spring/Summer 2020 narrative in play with the unveiling of a new capsule within the larger seasonal framework. The birth child of Yohji Yamamoto and adidas, Y-3 has proved the perfect breeding ground between the designer’s silhouette-centric garments and the sportswear brand’s activewear ingenuity. Stylistically speaking, Yamamoto veers away from bold color schemes and outlandish prints, choosing instead to inflect pieces via asymmetrical cuts and other structural abnormalities. A quick look at the sub-label’s new range highlights the above sentiment fittingly.
With the spirit of “global nomads” in mind, the collection centers around the idea of travel, with jackets, vests, T-shirts, shorts and trousers taking on practical sensibilities. For instance, concealed pockets, strap detailing and/or heightened packability throw a spotlight onto the mobility and functionality of each piece. The accompanying lookbook sets the stage for the imprint’s newest sneaker, dubbed, the REHITO. A dual-layered mesh upper sits atop adidas’s infamous BOOST midsole, bringing elevated comfort to yet another lightweight silhouette.
Elsewhere, an assembly of caryalls—forged from sturdy, water-resistant fabrics—provide wearers a worthy travel companion that satisfies both sartorial and utilitarian properties. Take a look at the images above for a closer look at Y-3s new Spring/Summer 2020 capsule and look for the collection to drop at all Y-3 flagship stores on January 16.
