Vetements Drops Graffiti-Style Sneakers From Its Spring/Summer 2020 Collection

Since his departure from the label earlier last year, Vetements still retains the respectfully disruptive stance its founder, Demna Gvasalia, instilled from the very beginning. As stated by the artist himself, Vetements was formed to challenge high-fashion’s status quo through a subversive lens, which over time has become revered for flipping traditional design concepts on its head. With the current spring/summer season clearly in focus, the fashion house has unveiled a swarm of sneakers that call attention to artistic graffiti-style inflections, much like we see in this new seasonal offering.

Child-like scrawls plastered all throughout the uppers inform a pair of high-top runners, with each—the left and right shoe—highlighting disparate tonal cues. Together, both sides call attention to faded, ink-type blotches in muted hues of red, green, blue and yellow that take the form of weather-appropriate image icons. While the left shoe features a highlighter yellow-toned midsole and the right shoe displaying the same area in bright pink, when placed next to one another, the medial side spells out “HAPPINESS,” with the lateral area itemizing the word “HARDCORE.”

Set to a price of a $970 USD, you can find these new Vetements sneakers online now. In other footwear news, Jerry Lorenzo cast his son in new Nike Air Fear of God 1 lookbook.
