Snoop Dogg has never been one to evade the spotlight, especially when it comes to teasing new music, launching a new project, or adding humorous commentary to an existing endeavor. Aside from burning up the stage this past weekend at the Super Bowl halftime show alongside Dr. Dre, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar, the award winning artist shook the rap world to its core with the acquisition of Death Row Records. And now, as if out of nowhere, Snoop announced his plans to make the music label an NFT hub.
In classic Snoop Dogg fashion, he made waves with how he broke the news; jumping in a Clubhouse chat room to make it official. “Death Row will be an NFT label. We will be putting our artists through the metaverse and through a whole other chain of music. Just like how we broke the industry when we was the first independent to be major…I want to be the first major in the metaverse so Death Row will be an NFT,” Snoop shared when asked to elaborate on the move.
If that wasn’t enough, his forthcoming album B.O.D.R (Bacc on Death Row) will be available on the blockchain thanks in part to Gala Games. When asked to comment on his partnership with Gala Games, Snoop Dogg had this to share, “Blockchain tech has the power to change everything again and tip the table in favor of the artists and the fans, and we’re going to be right at the front of the pack with this Gala Music deal.”
