You’ve all seen the clip; a fresh-faced 17-year-old Notorious B.I.G. ripping a freestyle in the streets of his native Bud-Stuy.

“Yes it’s me, the B.I.G
Competition ripper ever since 13
Used to steal clothes was considered a thief
Until I started hustlin’ on Fulton Street”

Filmed in Brooklyn in the early ‘90s, it’s hard to imagine Biggie Smalls’ legendary rhyme ever being released as an official project. My how times have changed. The rapper’s “Fulton Street Freestyle,” however, will soon see the light of day as a licensed audio recording thanks to the folks at OneOf–an eco-friendly NFT platform bringing the music industry into Web3. Fans of the Notorious B.I.G. can soon attain licensing of the NFT-based track to use exactly as they wish. Imagine for a moment using that very cypher session in a soundtrack and/or project of your very own. Go ahead and mark down July 26 in your calendars.

OneOf wanted to do more than just release the legendary rap, which for most of us is a win in itself, but offer an immersive experience including 3D characters inspired by the Notorious B.I.G. himself. There’s more though, much more. “The Sky’s the Limit: The Notorious B.I.G. NFT Collection” will also unpack a gamified virtual realm known as “The Brook.” NFT holders will have guaranteed access to the platform, which will serve as an interactive “lifestyle, fashion, culture, music, entertainment metaverse experience.”

“Our platform puts fans in the driver’s seat of Biggie’s music and allows for endless creativity,” OneOf COO, Joshua James explained to Hypemoon. “By using OneOf’s platform, it has enabled us to honor and celebrate the legacy of The Notorious B.I.G. through his music and to reimagine his iconic style.”

Speaking for diehard Biggie stans all across the world, this is the perfect way to honor the man’s larger-than-life legacy. For more on the Notorious B.I.G. and his posthumous NFT collection, be sure to check out the project’s official website.
