Over the past few weeks, Jerry Lorenzo has hit up Instagram with teaser images—playfully alluding to an up-and-coming collab alongside Zegna. Although Fear of God boasts joint ventures alongside a veritable pantheon of design maestros, the streetwear imprint has yet to link up with a name as deeply entrenched within the formal menswear space as Zegna. This innovative mash-up corrects a contradictory plane where disparate sides come together in the name of sartorial progression.
“This collaboration is based on mutual respect. We understood each other from the very first moment,” expressed Jerry Lorenzo, with Alessandro Sartori adding, “We have worked with great balance to create a unique new wardrobe.” With both creative partners so intimately engaged, the project takes on the form of an open dialogue between Milan and Los Angeles, quality craftsmanship and sporty leisure, tradition and innovation; in other words high-end luxury and contemporary streetwear.
Elongated outerwear crashes up against smart tailoring, forging looks that border both, sophisticated elegance and comfy casual wear. To compliment the oversized top silhouettes, the pair designed a plethora of tonal mock neck pullovers and pleated slacks complete with its own integrated waist sash. The end result is an offering that speaks to the creative nature of both designers, each of whom apply their own creative competencies to each piece.
Presented at Paris Fashion Week earlier today, the forthcoming collection between Fear of God and Zegna will make its grand debut in the Fall of 2020. Meanwhile, in other fashion news, FACETASM unveiled a new collection based off reimagined Levi’s staples.
