Dover Street Market joins the likes of Off-White™ , Gucci and others in celebrating the majestic splendor that is Chinese New Year. As with so many other archival ventures laid out before, the noted retailer employed the artistic genius of some influential friends, including Nike, Stüssy, CLOT, NOAH, Cactus Plant Flea Market, BAPE and Denim Tears, amongst a whole host of others.
Creatively on par with the aforementioned offerings above, it was interesting to see how each intertwined this year’s symbolic rat creature into their own design considerations. Nike, for instance, created a tee highlighting a group of rodents decked out in basketball uniforms, while another displays a rat mid-run sporting a pair of sneakers juxtaposed against a large Swoosh emblem emblazoned on its side. Elsewhere, BAPE plastered its famed APE head caricature on a blank with oversized rat ears hovering above, while CLOT sandwiched a rat render in between both brand names.
Aside from those listed above, the extensive range also includes pieces from the likes of AWAKE NY, Doublet, IDEA, Youths in Balaclava, Expect Horror and Dreamland Syndicate. Dover Street Market’s collaborative “Year of the Rat” capsule is now available at all DSM locations, as well as its web store.
Elsewhere in the streetwear world, Dior and Jordan Brand recently joined forces on a new “Air Dior” capsule.
