For the better part of 30 years now, Modernica has churned out distinct homeware goods for all sorts of discerning taste levels. The family owned business proudly crafts each piece one-by-one, dedicating as much time needed to ensure each undergoes a uniform process undertaken by a group of skillful artisans. Over the past few years, Modernica has steadied its ascent into the thick of streetwear design, co-designing expressive one-offs with some of the game’s most prevalent tastemakers, including CLOT, Pleasures, Takashi Murakami, Stüssy, BAPE and others.
Next up for the home furnishing experts is a collaborative venture alongside Kyle Ng’s Brain Dead imprint. Building off the joint coffee table prototype they converged on last spring, both sides have since applied their design sensitivities onto the Headcase Study Table. The thematic work surface was sculptured to mimic Brain Dead’s satirical head logo with relative branding cues laid out on top. Forged from Maple plywood up top, Modernica fortified the piece’s structural base with zinc-plated steel, which was used to craft the legs and asymmetrical pipe design conjoining each peg.
Measuring in at 94cm x 71.1 cm x 38.1 cm, Brain Dead and Modernica’s Headcase Study Table is available for purchase online now. Speaking of furniture design, Stain Shade recently unveiled its hand-dyed chairs.
